Location! Location! Location!
The cottage is located on a quiet cul de sac, and is less than 50 steps from the Pinellas Trail, a 38.2 mile “Rails to Trails” pathway that extends from St. Petersburg in the south to Tarpon Springs in the north. This paved, converted railway trail is ideal for bicycling, walking, jogging, or roller skating. The trail is listed in the “Rails to Trails Hall of Fame” and many publications list the Pinellas Trail in their “Top 10” for best urban trails and breathtaking scenery.
Dunedin’s vibrant downtown with quaint shops, fabulous restaurants, and dozens of local microbreweries is an easy 5-minute walk down the Pinellas Trail. Over 25 festivals are held each year in Dunedin, and don’t miss the downtown market every Friday and Saturday (from November to May). Several public parks, a public swimming pool (open April through September), and a city gym and recreation center are nearby. Cornflower Cottages is also one block from the scenic waters of St. Joseph’s Sound. Within a 15-minute drive is the Clearwater Countryside Mall and the performing arts center at Ruth Eckerd Hall. A 30 minute drive takes you to the Dali Museum or the Chihuly collection at the Morean Arts Center. And, don’t forget Dunedin is home to minor league baseball’s Dunedin Blue Jays, and is also the Spring training home of Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays.
Award Winning Beaches and Acclaimed Nature Preserves
Beautiful and secluded Honeymoon Island State Park is a short 15-minute drive or a bicycle ride from the cottage. Explore the beaches and hiking trails while seashell hunting and birdwatching. Pristine and isolated Caladesi Island State Park can be reached by ferry from Honeymoon Island. Rent a kayak and set out on the Caledesi paddling trail. Clearwater Beach, which ranks as the best beach in the USA year after year, is a 20-minute drive, or you can take the ferry from the Dunedin pier, or hop on the Jolley Trolley. The weather is generally warm enough all year round for walking the beach, and most winter months have at least a few days warm enough to swim. Endless opportunities abound to enjoy the natural beauty and the glorious Florida sunshine. And, if you like to fish, you will love Dunedin. Water is everywhere! You can fish on the beaches, off the causeway, and, of course, from the Dunedin Marina Pier. The Marina is also a spectacular place to marvel at the famous Dunedin sunsets. Sunsets in Dunedin are some of the most incredible you will ever see!
